Who is 2Henchmen?

2Henchmen is Colin Riebel. Singular. Which I suppose is just 1Henchman, but more on why I'm 2Henchmen later...

I am a lighting and sound designer from Evergreen, Colorado. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with a Design/Technical emphasis from the University of Minnesota Duluth. 

While lighting and sound are my main areas of expertise, I've also taken courses in scenic, costume, and makeup design. I'm also an experienced console programmer, electrician, stagehand, and carpenter. 

What's in a name?

The name 2Henchmen came about in 2005. I was having a discussion with two of my good friends about our respective fields. We were talking about the way in which plans for theatre, music, and film were laid out with the same attention to detail one might put into grandiose plots for world domination. We drew comparisons between masterminds and directors, and between henchmen and designers. In the same way that designers help to create and realize a director's vision, a good henchman will help ensure the masterminds overly complex plan works as intended.

However, the problem is that you can't count on just one henchman. He might run into the hero and be "removed" from the picture. He might get in over his head and the plan could quickly unravel. Or, he might try to run away with the plan and develop his own plot of domination leaving the rest of the team behind.

The conclusion was, no matter what you're planning, plotting, or executing, you need at least two henchmen to make sure the job gets done. Plus, a little friendly competition between henchmen isn't a bad thing. 

The 2Henchmen name is meant to remind me that one person cannot do it all. This business is about what we can create together. A mastermind needs henchmen just as much as henchmen need a mastermind.
